In the 2022/23 winter flight schedule, Varna Airport in Bulgaria has more destinations to choose from than ever before. The airlines operating from this airport offer 18 destinations in nine countries. There are also individual charter flights.

The Fraport subsidiary was severely affected by the corona pandemic, as many routes were temporarily eliminated. The military attack by the Russian army on Ukraine also had a negative impact on demand in the direction of Varna. In the 2022/23 winter timetable, the variety of destinations on offer exceeds the pre-crisis level that was seen in the cold season of 2019/2020.

The low-cost airline Wizz Air connects the Bulgarian city on the Black Sea with a total of eight destinations in Germany. These are Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden, Berlin, Cologne/Bonn, Dortmund, Hamburg, Frankfurt-Hahn, Memmingen and Nuremberg. In the UK, the carrier offers Liverpool and London-Luton. Wizz Air also controls the destinations Larnaca and Charleroi, Prague, Eindhoven and Tel Aviv from Varna.

Three airlines are vying for passengers on the Vienna route. These are Austrian Airlines, Wizz Air and Ryanair. Turkish Airlines connects Varna with the Istanbul hub. Israir flies to the Bulgarian airport from Tel Aviv. Bulgaria Air operates daily domestic flights to the capital Sofia.
