The Bundeswehr soldiers still have to wait for a new transport helicopter.

However, they shouldn't have any great hopes for procurement very soon. Because the award procedure for the order of the transport helicopter has been canceled, as the Federal Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday. "In the course of the ongoing award it was recognized that the project would be unlikely to be realized within the budgeted budget while meeting all requirements." The Federal Armed Forces Procurement Office rated the offers at hand as uneconomical and therefore canceled the award procedure.

These unplanned events will also have an impact on the previous schedule. And probably longer than expected, how reuters.com reported. Because under the current circumstances, no contract can definitely be expected in 2021. The goal remains to replace the old heavy transport helicopter CH-53G in a timely manner. In the race for the successor are the US companies Boeing with the Chinook and Lockheed Martin with the CH-53K.
