The establishment of the Maltese airline Eurowings Europe Ltd. takes on other forms. The company has been assigned the IACO code EWL. There is still no IATA two-letter code.

The new Eurowings Europe Ltd. is scheduled to start in autumn 2022 and gradually replace the Austrian Eurowings Europe GmbH. The transfer of aircraft from the OE to the 9H register will take place according to the current information status over the entire winter timetable period 2022/23. Subsequently, Eurowings Europe GmbH no longer be active as an airline. The "move" to Malta is basically the same as that which the Ryanair Group at Laudamotion GmbH and the successor airline Lauda Europe Ltd. completed some time ago, comparable.

The call sign of the Malta branch of Eurowings has already been set: "Black Pearl". That of the German Eurowings is “Eurowings”. The Austrian subsidiary, which is still active, uses “Europwings” for radio communications.

The future Maltese airline currently has neither AOC nor operating license. According to the civil aviation authority, one is in the middle of the granting process. The office assumes that the certificates could be handed over in the next few weeks. No further details were given. It would be up to the airline to communicate this.

Wizz Air and SkyUp are also pulling up Malta subsidiaries

Another start-up currently in the AOC and OL issuance process is the EU subsidiary of the Ukrainian airline SkyUp. Under the Project name SkyUp Europe wants to launch a Maltese airline. Initially, the plan is to use two Boeing 737s to fulfill ACMI and charter orders before operating a route network with 2023 machines in the summer of 19. Contrary to what one tabloid claims, SkyUp wants to establish itself permanently in the European Union with the Malta offshoot and not just temporarily until the end of the war in Ukraine.

The Wizz Air Group will also in future have an airline with a Maltese operating licence. In contrast to Eurowings Europe, SkyUp Europe, Malta Air and Lauda Europe you will have an EASA AOC. The OL is to be issued by the Maltese Aviation Authority. Wizz Air Hungary, which also flies under EASA-AOC, serves as a model, because its operating license comes from the Hungarian Civil Aviation Authority. This one yet relatively young constellation also led to the fact that the FAA was unclear as to how the responsibilities between EASA and the Hungarian office were divided, so that the application for flight rights for charter cargo flights was initially rejected.

UK subsidiary of Norse Atlantic Airways has three-letter code in its pocket

The future airline Norse Atlantic UK, which is to operate the Norse base at London Gatwick Airport in the future, has meanwhile also been assigned the ICAO code. This is UBT. The call sign is already set: Longboat.

Norse Atlantic Airways required AOC and UK operating license to operate the Ambitious to be able to implement long-haul plans at Gatwick. For this reason, a UK branch was founded. This is currently in the approval process. According to the current state of affairs, the AOC and operating license are to be issued this year.

Much earlier Norse goes under Norwegian AOC in Berlin-Brandenburg at the start. Even before the first flight you have announced the increase in the planned connections. The Berlin routes will initially be served from the United States of America, although the company can imagine that if it is successful, a base and staff could be established in the German capital.

EW Europe will not operate as Europwings, nor will EWL operate as Black Pearl. Both radio/will radio as Eurowings (radio)...

You are wrong. This article is about the officially registered call signs and these are unique to each AOC holder. However, the one whose flight number is used is always used. Example: If Lauda Europe flies under under LW flight numbers (occurs with charter flights), then you radio as BEAUFORT. If you fly under FR flight numbers, then you radio as RYANAIR. The situation is similar at Eurowings GmbH and in the future Eurowings Europe Ltd. Even today, flights are occasionally operated under the E2 code. The reasons for this are different. However, what is absolutely correct: A felt 99,99 percent of the flights are carried out under the EW code, which is why the Eurowings call sign is used.
You can verify the officially registered callsigns with the ICAO, among others.
