The cargo airline Cargolux signed an order for ten Boeing 777-8Fs on Wednesday. Options have also been secured for six more copies. The new additions are intended to replace outdated B747-400Fs.
Already during the Farnborough Air Show the two companies have communicated that Cargolux has opted for this model. However, the formal contract was only signed today. The order was previously listed as unidentified on Boeing's Orders and Deliveries website.
“The agreement signed today will consolidate Cargolux' position as the world's leading air freight company. Replacing our aging fleet of 747-400 Freighters with the latest technological and fuel-efficient 777-8 Freighter model will contribute to our long-term sustainability program while continuing to provide our customers with the tailored service they have come to expect,” said Richard Forson, President and CEO of Cargolux .
