Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr is relying more than ever on the tourism business this year. According to their own information, the crane and its subsidiaries Eurowings and Eurowings Discover have planned over 100 hot water destinations this year.

Spohr explained to Bild am Sonntag that in the company's long history it has never offered so many tourist destinations. The manager has high hopes for the planned Green Pass, which is intended to make travel easier for people who have been vaccinated against the coronavirus.

In this context, Spohr thinks that as the vaccinations progress, the number of new infections will decrease and more and more states could be classified as green. This would increase demand again. Spohr is convinced that summer 2021 will be a successful one for the group he heads.

In some cases, Lufthansa is planning very optimistically, because flight plan data show that numerous long-haul connections are again being planned with the Boeing 747-8. In contrast to the Airbus A380, Spohr wants to hold on to this. Whether the super jumbos will ever return to active Lufthansa scheduled service is still completely open.
