The Boeing 747-400 with the registration G-CVID caught fire at Castellón Airport (Spain). The machine was previously operated by British Airways and is parked at this airport for the purpose of scrapping.

In an initial reaction, the carrier stated that it was assumed that the fire was caused by flying sparks while the machine was being dismantled. Castellón Airport wrote that the fire brigade intervened quickly and extinguished the fire quickly. Nobody got hurt. The four-jet engine was transferred to Spain in August 2020 and has been waiting to be scrapped ever since. British Airways sold the jumbo jet to a recycling company and was no longer the owner at the time of the fire.

If the following video of the fire is not to be displayed, it can also be found under this link be accessed.
