Conflict over financing of air traffic tax reduction puts a strain on aviation industry

The planned reduction of air passenger duty on July 1, 2026, is subject to change due to an internal financial dispute within the federal government. While the Federal Ministry of Finance insists that the resulting revenue shortfall of at least €350 million must be offset by savings in the budget of the Ministry of Transport, Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder currently sees no room for this.

New flight connection: Air Uniqon connects Berlin with the Lake Constance region

The newly founded virtual airline Air Uniqon has commenced scheduled service between Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) and Friedrichshafen. Water damage at former Tegel Airport: Major operation in Terminal A

A major water main break triggered extensive rescue operations at the disused Berlin-Tegel Airport (TXL) on Monday night. According to the Berlin Fire Department, an estimated 20.000 cubic meters of water leaked from the basement of the former Terminal A. Emergency responders found that the water level in the lower floors was up to 50 centimeters deep in some areas.

Easyjet discontinues flight service between Berlin and Paris-Orly

British airline EasyJet will discontinue its direct service between Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) and Paris Orly Airport at the end of the 2025/26 winter flight schedule.
