Infrastructure expansion at EuroAirport: First hotel project directly at the terminal

EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg is expanding its service portfolio with a significant addition to its accommodation infrastructure. For the first time in the history of the trinational airport, a hotel complex is being built directly on the airport grounds, right next to the main roundabout in front of the terminal on the Swiss side. Early resumption of flight operations on the main runway of EuroAirport

Basel Mulhouse Freiburg Airport will reopen its main runway 15/33 to regular air traffic significantly earlier than planned following an intensive renovation phase. Thanks to rapid construction progress and favorable weather conditions during the complete closure, the runway will be operational again on Saturday, May 16, 2026. Swissport records massive increase in pharmaceutical logistics at EuroAirport

Global ground handling provider Swissport has reached an operational milestone in the sensitive air freight segment at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg. Since the commissioning of the specialized Cool+Connect infrastructure in February 2025, over 1000 temperature-controlled containers have already been successfully handled. With monthly volumes now reaching 200 to 250 units, the airport is strengthening its strategic position.

New art installation at the tower in Basel

A large-format reproduction of Victor Vasarely's artwork "Vega Pâl" has now been installed on the EuroAirport control tower. The poster is part of a collaboration with the Musée Unterlinden in Colmar and aims to highlight the cultural significance of the tri-border region. The motif is taken from the famous "Vega" series by the Hungarian-French artist.

EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg introduces automated baggage drop-off

EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg has initiated a comprehensive modernization of its passenger handling facilities. Since mid-February 2026, passengers of selected airlines have been able to check in their luggage themselves using new self-service kiosks, known as Self Bag Drop units. As a first step, a total of 24 check-in kiosks and 14 baggage drop machines have been put into operation in Halls 2 and 4.
