The Austrian airline caterer Do & Co was able to improve significantly at first glance, but the management points out that the increase in sales in the first quarter of the current financial year is only due to the fact that air traffic almost completely came to a standstill in the same period of the previous year.

According to Do & Co, the comparability of the financial figures is therefore not really given. This year business has started again, because the airlines, i.e. customers of the caterer, have gradually ramped up their route networks again. In the USA, Do & Co took over the in-flight service of Delta Air Lines in March 2021 at the Detroit location, which was newly founded.

With more than 400 daily departures in 2019, Detroit is one of the airline's largest and most important hubs in the United States. With American and Spirit Airlines, Do & Co already has three customers at the recently opened new location.

In general, the catering company was able to benefit from the fact that demand in the aviation sector in the United States picked up significantly earlier than in Europe. Do & Co was able to win new customers as a result: Since mid-April 2021, after New York, food for the JetBlue Business Class (Mint Class) has also been prepared in Los Angeles, San Diego and Palm Springs. Do & Co also provide catering on Jetblue long-haul flights from Europe.

EBIT is positive again

Since the beginning of June 2021, the company has been taking care of the physical well-being on board All Nippon Airways at the Frankfurt and Munich locations. After taking over all catering services for all Iberia and Iberia Express departures from Madrid-Barajas in February 2020, Do & Co has been taking care of buy-on-board catering for all Iberia Express flights since June 16, 2021. In Milan-Malpensa, the caterer Etihad wins as a new customer.

Do & Co and Turkish Airlines decided to extend their long-term partnership back in the 2018/2019 financial year. The 2019-year contract signed in the 2020/15 financial year on the continuation of the catering supply contract has now been checked by the Turkish competition authority and approved in the first quarter of the 2021/2022 financial year.

Despite the gloomy market environment, the Airline Catering division posted a massive increase in sales of 224,0 percent compared to the previous year. Sales in the first quarter of the 2021/2022 financial year amounted to 77,53 million euros (previous year: 23,93 million euros). At 16,50 million euros, EBITDA is 20,44 million euros higher than the same period of the previous year. The EBIT amounts to 7,19 million euros (previous year: -13,98 million euros).
