Austrian Airlines is currently struggling with an absurd problem: In the office in Office Park 2 at Vienna Airport, masses of computer screens, mice and keyboards have disappeared. This not only puzzles Chief Commercial Officer Michael Trestl, but the damage is considerable.

Austrian Airlines recently introduced so-called desk sharing under the motto "NewWork@OS". This means that office workers no longer have a fixed desk, but share it with colleagues. Alternatively, they can also work from home as part of the "mobile office". According to an internal circular, “working in our offices is possible again”.

But Chief Commercial Officer Michael Trestl realizes that not everything is going as planned. In a circular available to Aviation Direct, it can be read: “Unfortunately, we have had to discover in the last few weeks that a large number of computer screens, computer mice and keyboards have disappeared in our adapted offices in OP2. In addition, fully furnished workplaces were partially destroyed, for example the cabling was removed, the equipment dismantled and distributed to other workplaces or new monitors were replaced with old ones. The number of missing monitors alone has 3 digits. As a result, we are currently no longer able to equip every workstation with two monitors in OP2 - as planned at the beginning - without having to buy them later. "

Now you want to motivate the employees that they report to an internal office and announce if EDP hardware was accidentally taken away. However, the matter can generally have repercussions, as the board member further explains: “Such a procedure is an absolute no-go and we will not tolerate it. If devices have been removed from the office due to a misunderstanding, we ask for appropriate information by September 27, 2021 to (internal e-mail address). In justified cases, we will be forced to investigate and, if necessary, take legal action. "
