On the morning of August 15, 2024, climate activists of the “Last Generation” again protested at several German airports. While air traffic in Berlin and Stuttgart remained largely undisturbed, the actions at Nuremberg and Cologne-Bonn airports led to delays.

Passengers affected by flight delays are entitled to compensation and replacement services under certain conditions according to the Air Passenger Rights Regulation EC 261. However, passenger rights expert Nina Staub from AirHelp explained that in the case of protests that are not the fault of the airline, there is often no entitlement to compensation. It is still recommended to keep receipts for additional expenses in order to receive possible reimbursements from the airline.
