The Australian airline Qantas can hardly wait to resume long-haul flights and is bringing forward the comeback of the Sydney-Los Angeles and Sydney-London routes to November 1, 2021.

The route to the UK will be operated with a refueling stop in Darwin. The background is that residents of Australia can enter quarantine-free again from November 1, 2021. However, this only applies if they are fully vaccinated against Covid-19. From July 2022, Qantas plans to gradually reactivate the Airbus A380. Initially, this is to be used on the Los Angeles route. The carrier plans to fly superjumbos via Singapore to London by November 2022 at the latest.

However, the number of Airbus A380s will be reduced by two units. The plan is to reactivate five units in the coming year and another five units by 2024. Two pieces will no longer be put on the line service based on the current state of information.
