ARTE Concert bows to Berlin-Tegel Airport (TXL) as a symbol of Berlin club tourism and brings the disused area back to life for a unique electronic music experience:

From May 2, 2023, the new format “TXL Berlin Recordings” will bring together 19.00 DJs – international greats as well as newcomers – every Tuesday and every second Thursday from 36:XNUMX p.m. on arte.tv/txl and on YouTube temporarily transform into a pulsating club landscape. Berlin style.

Berlin is the hub of electronic music, a place of longing that attracts thousands of club tourists weekend after weekend. For several decades, one of the most important hubs for bringing fans of the club scene to the city was Berlin-Tegel Airport. Flight operations there were discontinued on November 8, 2020. Since then, the site has been undergoing a transformation process: one of the largest urban development projects in Europe is taking shape on the 500-hectare site. ARTE Concert uses this transition phase and returns to Tegel to transform the cargo hall and the former Lufthansa hangar into a vibrant, multi-sensory club landscape for twelve streams. The former airport site will never be seen again.

In addition to internationally known DJ greats such as Ben Klock, Patrick Mason, Rebekah and Elli Acula, the line-up also includes up-and-coming newcomers such as Daria Kolosova, MCR-T and Nathalie Seres. Rødhåd, Dasha Rush and MARRØN will kick off on May 2nd, 2023.

The twelve three-hour streams were produced in March 2023. Lars Murasch (light) and Michael Titze (visual artist) are responsible for the stage design. In addition to the recordings inside, drone shots at the blue hour spectacularly showcase the hexagonal architecture of the airport from the outside.

“TXL Berlin Recordings” is a production by SUOL Music commissioned by RBB in cooperation with ARTE.

The film location “Berlin TXL”

Until 2020, Berlin-Tegel was Berlin's most important commercial airport with more than 20 million passengers per year. After the decommissioning, Tegel Projekt GmbH is developing the areas of the former airport into a model project for the city of the future on behalf of the State of Berlin. Berlin TXL is one of the largest urban development projects in Europe. Among other things, a research and industrial park for urban technologies - the Urban Tech Republic - as well as a sustainable and smart residential area for more than 500 people - the Schumacher Quarter are being built on the 10.000-hectare site.
