Condor boss raises serious allegations against Lufthansa

Advertising

Condor boss Ralf Teckentrup is of the opinion that Lufthansa is trying to force the airline he manages out of the market. This is primarily done via the subsidiary Eurowings Discover, which would “double” many Condor routes.

So far, Teckentrup has always been clear about his choice of words, but he rarely attacked the competitor Lufthansa Group directly. In an interview with the industry journal FVW, he raises serious allegations against his competitor. For example, he says: “We have a competitor in Germany who wants to wipe us out. They look at what we offer and then fly there on the same days and with one or two more flights a week."

The Condor manager also claims that Eurowings Discover would often offer tour operators significantly cheaper tickets than when sold individually. These should also be significantly below the price level of Condor. Teckentrup is of the opinion that Lufthansa would counter-finance this practice with its monopoly position in domestic traffic. Tuifly would also suffer from this and "maybe there will soon only be Lufthansa and Condor". The aviation company from Hanover would not be profitable even after the radical contraction, the Condor manager told FVW.

Both companies had received state loans to survive, both still have their right to exist, both should definitely continue to exist! Competition (although) stimulates business, but LH should make better use of the resources that are currently available, which are really not that plentiful, rather than copying Condor routes. Possibly the origin of the current situation lies in the feeder services carried out by LH only reluctantly (and possibly also in the Eog of the LH CEO CS). An agreement there, with which both could live moderately and financially, would bring calm to the market. The "opponents" of both are not the two airlines, they are called "low-cost airlines", and I deliberately do not name names.
