The German startup USC Aero has signed a contract with the British Avensis Aviation for the conversion of Airbus A340 long-haul aircraft. You are the first customer for the service offered.
According to Avensis, this is the modification marketed under the name "Navis PTF". According to their own information, the first plug-in door and a class E cargo hold are installed. The aircraft are also to be fitted with a cargo loading system and a rigid 9G barrier. A special cabin is installed for the crew.
However, the first freighters will still be equipped with the Medius PTF solution. This should allow USC Aero to start earlier, because according to Avensis, some parts still have to be manufactured for Navis-PTF. At a later point in time, the latter product is to be upgraded. The purpose is that USC Aero can start earlier.
The latter company is a German start-up that wants to start in Frankfurt am Main, among other places. According to their own information, they want to offer charter and ACMI services in the passenger area. They want to build up a strong foothold in the freight sector. In addition, Airbus A340s were secured from South African stocks. These are now to be converted into cargo planes. It is not yet known when USC Aero will start.
