Don't be surprised if more and more drones are appearing over Lake Constance Airport: Friedrichshafen will be embedded in the planned Europe-wide network of Dronamics, a British company that specializes in building a freight network with unmanned drones.

The signed letter of intent includes the necessary storage space for the goods to be transported, storage space for the drone and the commercial framework after an introductory phase.

Use of drones - European connections

The drone, which will soon be in flight testing and certification, will be operated under the name "The Black Swan" and can transport a payload of 350 kg. The range of the Black Swan is 2.500km. By linking up to 22 drone ports throughout Europe (including Belgium, Croatia, Hungary, Romania, Italy, Sweden, Portugal, etc.), ideal coverage of the entire European area is to be achieved.

“With Dronamics we have found a cooperation partner who will re-inspire the freight business with innovative technology. This will also open up completely new opportunities for the movement of goods for our industry in the Lake Constance region and also demonstrate the future-oriented strength of an airport in this region ”- said the airport's managing director, Claus-Dieter Wehr.
