The Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region announced on Tuesday that the application for a temporary injunction in connection with the resumption of ticket sales by bus drivers had been rejected by the Vienna Labor and Social Court.

The works council of the ÖBB subsidiary Österreichische Postbus AG and the Vida trade union have considerable concerns that opening the doors in the area of the bus drivers creates an increased risk of infection for them. The employee representatives moved against one Order of the employer in court.

The Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region reports: “In public regional bus traffic, there is a high“ Corona security ”due to the FFP2 mask requirement, a rapid exchange of air (ventilation systems, drafts through open doors) and regular cleaning. AGES data also does not show any corona clusters in public transport. Passengers and employees of the transport companies are not exposed to any increased risk as far as humanly possible. The application for an interim injunction to stop ticket sales and to close the front doors in VOR Regio buses by the works council of the VOR partner company Postbus was rejected by the responsible labor and social court. "

The VOR also writes in a broadcast that it has received repeated complaints from people who could not buy tickets over the Internet or machines. “This is an important measure to enable safe mobility, especially for older people or people without an Internet connection,” says the transport association.

Legal remedies are available

The matter is not over yet, because the union and the Postbus works council have the opportunity to appeal against the court's decision. Furthermore, a decision can also be made in the so-called ordinary procedure, i.e. without a preliminary court order.

Österreichische Postbus AG is a subsidiary of the Austrian Federal Railways and at the same time the largest bus company in the republic. Most Austrian airports are connected to the local public transport network via Postbus lines. There are also express bus lines at Vienna Airport under the brand name “Vienna Airport Lines”. These are not included in the VOR tariff, but operate at a higher Postbus in-house tariff.
