The ground handler Swissport is getting into the corona test business at Zurich-Kloten Airport. The Checkport subsidiary is now offering self-tests that should deliver a result within five hours. The group cooperates with Ender Diagnostics and Swiss Analysis AG.

What is new is that no PCR smear is taken from the throat, but a so-called “spit test” is offered. These are sold on site as self-test kits and carried out by passengers without medical staff in test boxes that are cleaned after each customer. The samples are brought to a Swiss Analysis AG laboratory four times a day by courier. The result should be known within five hours. Tests made after 17 p.m. are processed early the next morning. The customers are informed of their test results by email.

You can currently be tested daily between 06:00 a.m. and 20:00 p.m. without prior notification. The test center at the airport is located in the former ID office on Check-in 2, Floor 1. The tests are for people who show no symptoms and need a test for travel or participation purposes. Especially for air passengers, as only the PCR test is approved by the competent authorities for entry into countries that require a Covid 19 test. The cost is 195 Swiss Francs.

Amavita pharmacies moved into the test center at the airport at the beginning of December. It offers daily corona rapid tests for people with Covid-19 symptoms (not approved for travel) by prior arrangement by telephone (058 878 25 60). The Airport Medical Center's offering, which includes PCR tests and IgG antibody tests, will continue to exist.
