Croatia Airlines is planning to renew its fleet, but it has not yet decided whether to order from Airbus, Boeing and/or Embraer. The only thing that is fixed is that you will lease. Corresponding talks are currently under way.
The local specialist portal Ex-Yu-Aviation.com speculates that at least one Airbus A320 should be leased. Croatia Airlines states: “The renewal of the Croatia Airlines fleet is of strategic importance for the company, although no final decision has been taken on the matter. The leasing of another aircraft is currently being negotiated"-
The Croatian government wants to push ahead with the renewal of the fleet. The average age is currently 16,7 years. Some machines are already over 20 years old, which is not that old compared to other airlines. Nevertheless, as part of the post-Covid strategy funded by the government, one wants to prepare for the future. Intensive talks have already been held with the manufacturers Embraer, Airbus and Boeing.
As a result, representatives of the three aircraft manufacturers mentioned are trying to intervene directly with the government and want to make their models palatable. For example, Airbus is trying to score points with the A220 series and has also found sympathy with Croatia Airlines. However, Embraer counters that the E2 series would offer more flexibility due to the fact that they are offered with different seating capacities.
Boeing also sees itself in the running. The Americans can even imagine that Croatia Airlines could be temporarily provided with a B737-Max for test purposes. You see your own pattern as perfectly suited for the Croatian carrier. Neither the carrier nor the government have made a final decision on any new orders that are to be leased. The dice are expected to be cast later this year.
