Czech airline CSA grounded out its last and only plane it owned on Monday. The Airbus A319 with the registration OK-REQ was transferred from Prague to St. Athan in the UK.
The carrier's fleet has thus shrunk to just one aircraft. This is the Airbus A320 with the registration OK-HEU. This medium-haul jet is leased from Nomura Babcock & Brown. In the 2022/23 winter flight schedule, the airline will only offer scheduled flights between Prague and Paris on its own account. It also operates wet leases for its sister company, Smartwings.
The sale of OK-REQ is not a coincidence, as it was announced several weeks ago that management intended to divest the aircraft. Next year, the airline plans to add leased Airbus A320s and A220s to its fleet. To mark the departure of the last aircraft they owned, the pilots flew a circuit over Prague in honor of the CSA (Czech Airlines). Afterwards, they flew to St. Athan.
