Danish Air Transport sells McDonnell Douglas MD-83 collectibles

The Danish airline Danish Air Transport has opened a pop-up shop where numerous collectibles related to the last McDonnell Douglas MD-83 operated in Europe can be bought. The OY-RUE was decommissioned last year.

Company boss Jesper Rungholm writes, among other things, that he has decided to part with items that are no longer needed. “After retiring the OY-RUE in 2021, I stood in our hangar in Billund and looked at some beautiful parts of this iconic aircraft. Operating an airline requires space, so I have to say goodbye to parts that are no longer usable,” says the manager.

Until October 20, 2022, interested people can purchase all sorts of things to do with the McDonnell Douglas MD-83. For example, bench seats, seat belts, emergency exit signs, T-shirts and individual cockpit instruments are currently available. DAT emphasizes that these are no longer approved for aviation, as they have been made unusable accordingly. These are purely collector's items.

According to the company, this will not be the last special sale for the MD-83, because more pieces are being collected all the time. Rungholm writes: “Our goal is to make aviation items available to collectors and fans around the world. We will periodically open this shop in a pop-up feature whenever we have items for sale."

Danish Air Transport was the last European operator of the McDonnell Douglas MD-83. In the previous year, the OY-RUE was shut down. For this reason, DAT carried out farewell special flights. The carrier's fleet currently consists of two ATR72-600, one ATR72-500, one ATR72-200QC, three ATR72-200, three ATR42-500, two ATR42-300QC and two ATR42-300. The following are also registered on the AOC of the subsidiary in Lithuania: four Airbus A320, one A321, two ATR42-300, two ATR42-300QC, three ATR42-400, three ATR72-200, two ATR72-200QC, one ATR72-500, two ATR72 -600.

A well-researched article would also include a link...but you won't find it! Probably the author was too busy whining about the masks in other articles...

    A pity…
