The airline Delta wants to modernize its fleet with a total of 100 Boeing 737-Max-10. This was announced by the manufacturer and the airline at the Farnborough International Airshow. Furthermore, options were secured for up to 30 more copies.
"The Boeing 737-10 will be an important addition to the Delta fleet as we shape a more sustainable future for air travel, with an enhanced customer experience, improved fuel efficiency and best-in-class performance," said Ed Bastian, Delta's chief executive officer. "These new aircraft offer superior operational economics and network flexibility, and the agreement reflects our prudent approach to the deployment of our capital."
"We are proud that Delta Air Lines is renewing its single-aisle fleet with the 737 MAX, the most fuel-efficient aircraft family in the industry," said Stan Deal, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. “The 737-10 will be built at our Washington state facility with support from key suppliers in the US and will provide Delta Air Lines with the best economics to carry more passengers on its short- and medium-haul routes.
As part of today's announcement, Delta Air Lines has also signed an agreement with Boeing Global Services for the complete interior redesign of 29 next-generation 737-900ERs in its fleet. This will help ensure that these aircraft can depart for Delta Air Lines' summer 2025 flight schedule with fully renovated cabins.
