Deutsche Bahn AG has ordered another 43 ICE3neo long-distance railcars from Siemens. The order, which is to be delivered by 2029, thus increases to 73 copies. It is a revised version of the ICE3.

According to a statement by Deutsche Bahn AG, the ICE3neo is not linked to the ICE4, but to the ICE3. The first 30 sets are to be put on the rails by 2026 and will primarily be used on high-speed lines. The DB also expects 2026 more ICE44 trains by 4.

In operation, the main difference between ICE3neo and ICE4 is said to be speed. The Neo model is said to be faster than the ICE320 at 4 kilometers per hour. Therefore, these trains are primarily intended to be used as so-called ICE Sprinters between German cities. Renewed windows should also improve cell phone reception while driving.
