Deutsche Bahn introduces new direct train between Rostock and Munich/Stuttgart

Advertising

From March 8, 2025, Deutsche Bahn will introduce a new direct train between Rostock and the southern German cities of Munich and Stuttgart. The ICE will travel the route via Berlin, Leipzig and Frankfurt, thus offering a direct connection between the Baltic Sea and southern Germany. The travel time from Munich to Rostock is around ten hours.

With this measure, Deutsche Bahn is responding to the growing demand for fast and direct connections between northern and southern Germany. The new train is intended to offer commuters, business travelers and tourists in particular a comfortable alternative to existing connections, which often involve changing trains. Deutsche Bahn hopes that this direct connection will relieve the pressure on the heavily used connections and increase passenger numbers.

The new connection is part of Deutsche Bahn's extensive expansion plan, which aims to improve long-distance services and increase the efficiency of the network. The additional direct train will close a significant gap in the German rail network.
