The German Federal Minister of Transport Andreas Scheuer is promising new Corona aid packages for the ailing aviation sector. To this end, he calls a summit meeting.

The corona crisis hits the aviation industry right in the face and costs not only nerves, but also tons of money. The CSU politician also knows this and invites you to the summit. Above all, there should be further support for the entire industry - including the airports. In the last few weeks and months they felt they had been let down by the government, while large corporations such as Lufthansa were guaranteed aid funds worth billions.

“I will as soon as possible invite you to an aviation summit that will deal with the consequences of the corona crisis for the entire aviation industry. Of course, we're also thinking of the airports. We are currently preparing a concept for the regional airports and are addressing the major commercial airports. Because if we lose important infrastructure at this point, we can no longer reactivate it, ”says Scheuer, who names“ maintaining the structure ”as the top priority. It is about the entire aviation industry, "from the aircraft manufacturer to the airline".

The airport association ADV welcomed Scheuer's announcement that it would examine an aid concept for the airports. “The airports have their backs to the wall,” said ADV CEO Ralph Beisel. A flight operation without income cannot be sustained in the long run, like airliners.de reported.
