The German Minister of Economic Affairs Peter Altmaier (CDU) worries in the travel industry with the statement that he advises against travel bookings for the summer months. At the same time, the member of the government emphasized that the Minister of Economic Affairs made no recommendations, but told Bild TV that if you want to travel, you should wait some time.

When asked about the fact that the Federal Republic of Germany is itself a travel company due to the Tui rescue measures, he said that one would not operate this as an entrepreneur, but would help to survive. This is done, according to Altmaier, so that people in Germany can continue to ice in the future. "And by the way, we are doing everything we can to ensure that there is clarity as soon as possible," said the German Minister for Economic Affairs.

With his advice, which he gave as a private person and not as a member of the government, Altmaier made himself very unpopular in the travel industry. Various associations expressed criticism of this "recommendation among friends" and consider Altmaier's appearance to be the wrong signal. Reference is also made to the fact that tourism and airlines are dependent on summer business. There were also few friendly words from the opposition in the Bundestag.
