On September 30, 2020, the Federal Republic of Germany will end the previously practiced system of “worldwide travel warnings with exceptions”. For travelers, however, not much will change in practice as of October 1, 2020. Germany wants to proceed in a more differentiated manner in the future, but this does not affect the entry requirements of the destination countries.

Specifically, this means that the Federal Republic of Germany could lift the warning for State X, but it continues to practice tough entry regulations including prohibitions. For example, Hungary closed its borders with minimal lead time. Germany has not issued a travel warning for this country.

The Federal Foreign Office announced that from October 1, 2020, the warnings will be issued specifically for individual states, regions and cities. Warnings should be given to those who exceed the limit values of the Robert Koch Institute. You absolutely want to keep a "sense of proportion". In view of the currently increasing number of infections around the world, great relief for passengers is not to be expected.
