Many airlines and tour operators operating from Germany have been waiting for this: As of Sunday, the Federal Republic will no longer consider both the Balearic Islands and the Azores as a risk area. As a result, when you return, neither a test nor a quarantine is required.

Now many tour operators are hoping for a boost in bookings for the Easter holidays. However, there is a big catch: Entry into Portugal and Spain is still subject to the obligation to present negative PCR results and in some regions can also result in an obligation to quarantine. So the joy is a little clouded.

It is noteworthy that many tour operators apparently assume that customers are much more interested in the provisions when returning to the Federal Republic than in the requirements for being allowed to enter the holiday country at all. It is therefore important to point out that in the corona pandemic, conditions and regulations must be observed on both sides of the respective border. The Federal Republic is viewed by a large number of states as a high-risk area.

"The lifting of the travel warnings is the logical consequence of the significantly lower incidences, which for example have been below 50 for weeks on Mallorca and currently at 21," said DRV President Norbert Fiebig in an initial reaction. "At Easter this will make it possible to travel to different regions of Spain and Portugal again".
