According to a recent analysis by ACI Europe, air transport connections in Europe are lower than passenger demand. Overall connectivity is still not fully restored more than three years after the start of the pandemic. With -27 percent, the Federal Republic of Germany is not doing very well.

Total European air connectivity, ie combined direct and indirect connectivity, is still 16% below pre-pandemic levels (2019). This means that travelers from European airports continue to have fewer options, while air fare increases are more than six times higher than consumer price inflation.

A direct comparison with the recovery in passenger traffic shows that connectivity is clearly lagging behind: European passenger traffic is currently at -7,6% compared to pre-pandemic levels.

The following markets have already exceeded the connectivity level: Turkey (+19%), Cyprus (+17%), Bosnia-Herzegovina (+8%), Albania (+7%) and Greece (+4%). The Czech Republic (-44%) and Finland (-40%) as well as the United Kingdom (-10%) along with Spain (-12%) suffered the most, followed by Italy (-16%), France (- 17%) and Germany (-27%).
