The general compulsory test for all persons entering Germany by air has only been in force for a few days. Now, Toll Minister Andreas Scheuer (CSU) is calling for this to be maintained for a long time. The government member explained this to the DPA, among others.

The German Transport Minister is of the opinion that the regulation, which is initially limited to May 12, 2021, must be extended. Scheuer considers the general test obligation to be an “important bridge” to bridge the time until the global population is vaccinated. He also says that the procedure will level off in the next few weeks and will then be taken for granted by the passengers.

The introduction of compulsory testing for all persons entering Germany by air is a typical case of event legislation. After the travel warning for the Balearic Islands was lifted, returnees did not need a test or quarantine. As a result, the number of bookings around Easter skyrocketed. Chancellor Merkel (CDU) even called for a ban on holiday trips abroad at times, but it then turned out that all people who fly to the Federal Republic by plane had a negative Covid finding that was not older than 48 hours before departure may, must submit.
