Germany: compulsory testing also for vaccinated persons from variant areas

Just a few days ago, the German government announced that those who have been fully vaccinated no longer have to be quarantined, even if they come from virus variant areas. Now they are also introducing compulsory testing for these.

From August 1, 2021, all people entering Germany must present a negative corona test, regardless of where they come from and which means of transport are used. So far, only air and ship passengers have been affected. Those who have recovered and who have been vaccinated are exempt from the general compulsory test.

But there is also an exception to the exception, because if you have been vaccinated or recovered from a so-called virus variant area, you should in future have to submit a negative corona test. This emerges from a template from the Federal Ministry of Health.

Nothing has been decided yet, but it can be assumed that there will be an extremely short-term change to the model entry regulation due to pressure from some Prime Ministers. The federal states can then determine the exact details themselves, so that there may be regional deviations. It is currently unclear whether Germany will again only accept PCR results in the future or whether antigen test results will continue to be recognized. This is not clear from the submission. In any case, all persons aged six and over should be subject to the new entry regulations.
