The German Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) and the eloquent Bavarian Prime Minister, Markus Söder (CSU), it obviously does not fit at all that Austria made some easing on Monday. German politicians described the decision in the neighboring country as “irresponsible”.

The border controls are now to be "massively strengthened" because it is believed that this will prevent the South African mutation of the corona virus, which has increasingly occurred in Tyrol, from "spilling over" to Bavaria. It is to be checked more intensely on both main and secondary routes by land and by air. Initially, however, only Bavaria took this step.

Meanwhile, Chancellor Angela Merkel seems to want to extend the German lockdown until at least March 1, 2021. German media are reporting this, although the coordination with the state ministers is still ongoing.

In Austria tough measures have been taken by the government regarding Tyrol. From Friday you can only leave the state with a negative corona test, which must not be older than 48 hours. More on this in this article. Germany is also considering closing the border.
