Discussion about local tariffs escalates: AK Tirol demands clear political solution

Advertising

The abolition of local tariffs in Austrian tourism could have far-reaching consequences. Erwin Zangerl, President of the Tyrol Chamber of Labor, warns of the effects of a possible decision to eliminate local discounts in ski resorts and other tourist offers.

Zangerl sees this as a threat to the economy and tourism, as locals are increasingly being treated as tourists in their own country. The background to the discussion is a conflict over the EU Services Directive and its interpretation. Zangerl is demanding a clear political statement from the Federal Chancellery to ensure the continued existence of local tariffs.
