Vienna Airport is starting the cold season with an extensive and attractive winter flight schedule. From snowy winter wonderlands in the far north of Europe to sunny destinations far away – the new schedule offers travelers a variety of destinations.

The winter flight schedule for the 2024/2025 season, valid from October 27, 2024 to March 30, 2025, includes a total of 166 direct connections and covers both popular holiday destinations and important city connections. The three largest airlines - Austrian Airlines, Ryanair and Wizz Air - are significantly expanding their offerings, which increases travelers' expectations of short waiting times and high levels of comfort at Vienna Airport.

Austrian Airlines expands its offer

Austrian Airlines is focusing on a wide range of destinations and is offering 2024 destinations in the 2025/86 winter flight schedule. Particularly noteworthy is the new addition of Ivalo in Finland. This destination is ideal for travelers who want to experience a snow-covered winter landscape. Ivalo, which lies north of the Arctic Circle, is considered the gateway to the Arctic wilderness and is famous for dog sledding and snowmobile safaris.

In addition, Austrian Airlines is also expanding its long-haul flights, especially to popular sunny destinations. Non-stop flights to the exotic destinations of Mauritius and the Maldives are once again being offered, with the latter offering increased frequency. On other long-haul routes, flights can be booked to Bangkok, New York, Montreal and the American cities of Boston, Chicago, Newark and Washington. Shanghai will also remain on offer all year round.

Ryanair strengthens its offer in Europe

With a fleet of 19 aircraft stationed there, Ryanair serves a total of 56 destinations from Vienna. Particularly noteworthy are the new connections to Dubrovnik and Tirana in winter, which offer air travelers additional options for city breaks. The frequency will also be significantly increased on popular routes such as Barcelona, London, Madrid and Rome.

The Irish budget airline also offers flights to popular winter sun destinations such as Alicante, Malaga, Palma and Tenerife. For those looking to escape the cold winter weather, these connections offer perfect holiday options.

Wizz Air expands its route network

Wizz Air flies to a total of 23 destinations in the winter flight schedule. Particularly noteworthy is the resumption of connections to Cluj in Romania and Chisinau, the capital of Moldova. In addition, travelers can fly from Vienna to Barcelona, Reykjavik in Iceland, Hurghada in Egypt and the Saudi Arabian cities of Riyadh and Jeddah. This variety makes Wizz Air an option for travelers who want to reach different destinations at affordable prices.

International connections expanded

In addition to the wide range of services within Europe, the medium and long-haul services from Vienna have been greatly expanded in the winter flight schedule. Etihad Airways flies daily to Abu Dhabi, while Emirates even flies twice a day to the metropolis of Dubai.

New connections are also available for travelers to Asia: All Nippon Airways flies three times a week to Tokyo and Hainan Airlines flies twice a week to Shenzhen. Other Asian destinations include Beijing, which is served by Air China, and Baku, which is part of Azerbaijan Airlines' expanded route network.

Air Arabia and Sky Express new in the offer

Two new airlines are expanding the range of services at Vienna Airport. The Greek airline Sky Express will be offering direct flights from Vienna to Athens four times a week from December. The route offers city travelers a quick connection to the Greek capital, which is a popular travel destination at any time of year.

In addition, the airline Air Arabia will resume its Vienna-Sharjah connection from December. This will also be operated four times a week. Sharjah, one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates, is in close proximity to Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah, making it an ideal starting point for travelers who want to explore the region.

Wide selection of travel destinations in winter

With the 2024/2025 winter flight schedule, Vienna Airport offers a range of direct connections that appeal to both sun lovers and friends of winter adventure. The expansion of routes and frequencies by the major airlines Austrian Airlines, Ryanair and Wizz Air as well as the addition of new airlines such as Air Arabia and Sky Express make Vienna Airport an important international hub that meets a wide range of travel needs. With a wide range of destinations and improved services, the winter flight schedule is starting with great success and leaves no travel wishes unfulfilled.
