In the future, Air New Zealand will only allow passengers to use domestic flights if they are fully vaccinated against Covid-19. In a transition phase that will take effect from December 14, 2021, a negative corona test, which must not be older than 72 hours, can alternatively be presented.
Air New Zealand already intends to only carry vaccinated passengers on international routes. Within New Zealand it has not yet been possible to finally decide in favor of the 1G rule, which is why domestic negative Covid tests are also recognized. How long this transition phase will last is still open.
The company said it will re-evaluate around March 31, 2022. Then it will be decided whether only vaccinated people will be transported on domestic flights or whether the regulation will be dropped. In Canada, for example, people who are not vaccinated against Covid-19 are no longer allowed to use flights, long-distance buses and long-distance trains. This also applies expressly to domestic traffic.
