Doncaster Sheffield Airport in the UK will be the last arriving flight to land on 4th November 2022. This will be operated by the low-cost airline Wizz Air with an Airbus A321neo. The last commercial departures have already been completed by Tui Airways and the pink low-coster.

After many years of losses, the owners of Doncaster Sheffield Airport have decided that it should be closed for good. In the summer of 2022, they were looking for a buyer, but no one was found who would take over this airport. Now the lights are finally going out, because the area is to be converted into a logistics center – without flight operations.

One was never particularly successful anyway. Private investors have taken over a former RAF base and converted it into a civilian airfield. From day one you were in the red and never made any money. The owners are no longer willing to continue to finance the "burning of money". Therefore, after an unsuccessful search for a buyer communicated the closure.

Wizz Air entertained briefly established a base in Doncaster Sheffield, however, this was closed again after a very short time. Among other things, this decision is likely to have finally brought the last straw to the owners of the airport. Throughout the history of Doncaster Sheffield, the carriers have literally given each other the doorknob. Only Tui Airways was constantly present with a holiday programme.

After the landing of the Wizz Air flight coming from Katowice, the machine will be transferred to Leeds. Then the Doncaster Sheffield airport story ends. The lights will be turned off forever.
