The new flight schedule offers passengers around 30 percent more destinations than before the pandemic. You can choose travelers from around 50 destinations in more than 20 countries. The number of flight movements has also increased by more than 10 percent compared to the 2019 summer season.
“We are happy about the positive development. No question - the pandemic hit us hard too. In a nationwide comparison, however, Dortmund Airport has so far shown itself to be more resilient to pandemic-related travel declines due to its good airline mix," says Airport CEO Ludger van Bebber. “The desire to travel is unbroken and seems to increase with the prospect of the sunny months. We are seeing an increase in bookings and the airlines are reacting with a correspondingly diverse and attractive range of flights," van Bebber continued. For example, Wizz Air delivers the largest selection from Dortmund with more than 30 destinations, but Eurowings and Ryanair also significantly expanded their market share in Dortmund during the pandemic.
In addition to established destinations such as Palma de Mallorca, Porto and Budapest, Dortmund Airport is offering holidaymakers new destinations in Turkey this summer. After a break of several years, Sun Express is heading back to Antalya in the summer flight schedule. From June 30, Zonguldak will be the third destination of the German-Turkish airline from Dortmund, alongside Izmir and Antalya - the city on the Black Sea will be directly connected to Dortmund every Thursday. In addition, the carrier is increasing the frequency of connections to Izmir. Trade Air and ETF Airways fly to Pristina. Sun-seekers can look forward to a selection of Greek destinations again. Among them: Crete, Rhodes and Thessaloniki. Also to the south: the Italian island of Sicily and Split in Croatia.
