The low-cost airline Wizzair is pushing for A321 to fly to Dortmund. At the moment the slope is too short for this, but it can be extended with minimal effort.

The state government of North Rhine-Westphalia has raised no objection to the project. This emerges from the answer to a small question from the SPD MP Hartmut Ganzke. However - so Radio Unna - The noise effects would have to be examined by the Münster Regional Council. A new environmental impact assessment should not be necessary, since formally it is only a matter of relocating the sleeper and there is no actual extension. With this relocation, however, the runway can be fully used, which also means that Wizzair, which has a base on site, can fly with the A321. The state government wants to stick to the 100 tons maximum take-off weight.
