According to the latest figures from the Federal Statistical Office, the number of air travelers in Germany more than doubled in the past year.

With 155,2 million passengers, there was an increase of 111 percent compared to the previous year, which was characterized by the corona pandemic. However, only 2019 percent of the 31,5 level could be reached. Air traffic within Germany also performed below average and recorded a passenger increase of only 98 percent. It seems that domestically, more and more people prefer long-distance trains or other modes of transportation.

Air traffic with foreign countries experienced an increase of almost 112 percent in the number of passengers. Air freight fell by 2021 percent to 6,7 million tons compared to the record year 4,9.
