The Austrian Airlines route Vienna-Gothenburg was temporarily suspended at the beginning of the corona pandemic. Now the carrier wants to reactivate it with effect from March 27, 2022. Initially, regional jets of the Embraer 195 type are to be used.

It is currently planned to fly between the two cities on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Swedavia, operator of Gothenburg Airport, announced that around 25.000 passengers were traveling on this route before Corona.

It is expected that Vienna-Gothenburg-Vienna will soon be in high demand again, as both cities would be very popular with both business and private travellers. Initially, the smallest member of the Austrian Airlines fleet, the Embraer 195, will be used. Depending on how demand develops, it could also be switched to an Airbus A320 or the currently planned three weekly rotations could be increased.
