The first Eurowings flight from Dortmund to Heraklion started today.

The Lufthansa subsidiary always flies the route on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. The flight times are in addition to the Wizz Air connection to the Greek island. This will be flying from Dortmund to Heraklion again on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from June 14th.

“This means that our passengers can fly to Crete almost every day. The first Eurowings flight today is further evidence that the Greek destinations from Dortmund are becoming increasingly popular. A year ago only Thessaloniki was served. Travelers can now choose between five destinations: Thessaloniki, Santorini, Athens, Kavala and Crete ”, says Guido Miletic, Head of Airport Services and Marketing. The connections to Greece should continue to grow in the future. From July 2nd, Eurowings will also be flying to Rhodes. As early as June, around 17 planes a week take off from Dortmund for the popular holiday destination.

Italy routes are also growing steadily

The first machine to Naples took off a few days ago. In a good two hours, travelers from the Ruhr area can get to the birthday city of pizza. “Naples has a lot to offer. Due to the Friday and Monday traffic days and the short flight time, the destination is suitable for an extended weekend trip as well as for a longer summer vacation. We are therefore very happy that we can now offer passengers this route, ”continues Miletic. With a bit of luck, travelers can fly from Dortmund to Italy on the BVB team airport, as Dortmund has been the official home airport of this aircraft since June.
