The Lufthansa subsidiary Eurowings will offer a new destination in northern Lapland with Kittilä from December 24, 2022. This is offered from Düsseldorf. Other destinations that are on the program in the far north include Kiruna and Luleå in Sweden, Rovaniemi in Finland and Tromsø in Norway.

Eurowings will serve the new route to Kittilä with medium-haul Airbus A319 jets. Tickets can be booked from EUR 49,99 through all of the carrier's sales channels. It is currently planned that this route will be flown on the traffic day Saturday from December 24, 2022.

Chase the Northern Lights, go skiing or get up close and personal with huskies: Kittilä is the perfect destination for anyone looking for a bit of freezing cold winter adventure. The small town is located in the Finnish region of Lapland, around 200 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle. If you are planning a holiday so far north in winter, you want one thing above all: to see the northern lights. Finnish Lapland is the ideal base to admire the dancing lights, also known as Aurora Borealis, in the sky. The small community of Kittilä is far away from big cities and the beautiful nature around it offers ideal conditions for Northern Lights hunting.

A popular attraction is the Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park. It is the third largest national park in Finland and offers numerous hiking trails through old-growth coniferous forests and skiing routes on the tops of fells, the Scandinavian mountains. With little to no light pollution, a trip to this Scandinavian region of Lapland is ideal for seeing the Northern Lights in the sky. Tip: The best way to admire the northern lights is from the summit of Taivaskero - at an impressive 800 meters.
