Two remains from the Second World War were found near Düsseldorf Airport on Monday. The two aerial bombs made it necessary to temporarily close the airport and the motorway.
The police had a radius of 500 meters, which had to be evacuated for security reasons. The terminal at Düsseldorf Airport was also affected. The British World War II bombs were found during preparations for construction work. These were carried out on the area of the airport.
The executive's knowledgeable staff defused the aftermath of World War II. Immediately afterwards the all-clear was given. According to the police, around 5.500 people had to be evacuated beforehand. This is a common practice for bombs found in past wars.
Usually, temporary bans always create a lot of chaos. But this time everything was different because, according to Düsseldorf Airport, only one departure was planned in the time window. The plane then took off with considerable delay.
