The airline Austrian Airlines is currently struggling with weak demand on some routes. Therefore, further routes are temporarily set. For example, Cologne / Bonn, Hermannstadt, Manchester, but also Tehran and Montreal are affected.

A few weeks ago Aviation.Direct reported that the Lufthansa subsidiary will temporarily suspend the destinations Bologna, Leipzig, Nuremberg and Zaporozhye. Austrian Airlines has now confirmed that Cologne / Bonn, Hermannstadt, Manchester, Palma de Mallorca, Tehran and Montreal are also affected. The routes, if they are still operated, are to be suspended from the third calendar week of 2022.

A company spokeswoman said: “Unfortunately, due to the mixed pandemic and booking situation, we had to lower our original flight plan for primarily in the period from week 3-8. This affects the intercontinental routes VIE-YUL and VIE-IKA, as well as the continental routes VIE-BLQ, VIE-CGN, VIE -OZH, VIE-SBZ, VIE-NUE / LEJ, VIE-MAN and VIE-PMI ”.

However, the cuts at Austrian Airlines are not an “isolated case”, because the competitor Wizz Air has also reduced the offer from Vienna-Schwechat. New additions such as Amman and Akaba were not implemented at short notice. Should be permanent 12 routes not applicable from Austria's largest airport.
