EasyJet, the official airline of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, raised the anticipation of the musical event to an altitude of 10.600 meters with a special flight. 75 selected Eurovision fans were flown free of charge from London Gatwick Airport to Basel, the host city of this year's contest. A lively party took place on board the plane.
The highlight of the flight was the "Sky High Orange Runway," a talent show judged by fans in the air and hosted by Drag Race UK winner Ginger Johnson. Performances ranged from Irish dancing to disco classics. Elaine McAdam of Ireland won with her rendition of "Mamma Mia." Before takeoff from London, fans enjoyed a Eurovision-style check-in, received exclusive gift bags, and had the opportunity to take photos. During the flight, sing-alongs, raffles, and a lively Eurovision atmosphere provided entertainment.
Upon arrival in Basel, the fans were greeted by Eurovision mascot Lumo. The city is preparing for the semifinals (May 13 and 15) and the grand final (May 17). EasyJet, the largest airline at Basel Airport, is increasing its capacity by 6.000 additional seats and will fly over 47.000 Eurovision fans to EuroAirport this year. This special flight marked an atmospheric start to the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest.
