After giving the green light to Easyjet's shareholders, the low-cost carrier has confirmed an order for 56 Airbus A320neo aircraft. 18 examples are A321neo.
“We are convinced that this order will contribute to positive returns for the company and the achievement of our strategic goals. The new aircraft are in line with Easyjet's sustainability strategy, with the introduction of the more efficient aircraft incorporating new technology being a core component of Easyjet's path to net-zero emissions. In addition, the new aircraft are significantly quieter, at half the noise level of the older aircraft they replace," said Easyjet CFO Kenton Jarvis.
The low-cost carrier currently operates a fleet of more than 300 A320 Family aircraft, including the A319, A320ceo, A320neo and A321neo, making it the world's largest operator of Airbus single-aisle aircraft. Easyjet serves more than 130 European airports in around 31 countries and serves over 1 routes.
