The Austrian airline Easyjet Europe will temporarily close two Italian bases during the 2020/21 winter flight planning period. These are Naples and Venice. The presence in Milan-Malpensa, the largest Italian base, is not affected.

The Airways Magazine reports, citing an internal employee letter, that flight operations from Naples are to be suspended from October 28, 2020 to December 17, 2020 for the time being. From Venice this is to be suspended for the entire winter flight schedule period. The decision was justified with the significantly reduced demand. The two Italian airports will not completely disappear from the route network, however, because other airports will continue to serve them. Only the flight offer, which has so far been carried out from the two Italian bases, is to be suspended.
