Easyjet has flown in the first annual loss in its company's history: The bottom line is a pre-tax deficit of almost 1,2 billion euros. In the previous year there was still a profit of almost 480 million euros on the balance sheet.
The corona pandemic is also severely affecting the low-cost airline. In the past financial year, the number of passengers fell by half to a good 48 million as a result of travel restrictions and the collapse in demand. The prospects for winter therefore remain bleak. Easyjet boss Johan Lundgren wants to offer a maximum of a fifth of the originally planned flight program in the current quarter. Most recently he had targeted a quarter. There is hope for a vaccine soon, said Lundgren.
