Easyjet will close its bases in Southend, Stansted and Newcastle in the UK. This reduces the number of support points from eleven to eight. At the same time, jobs will also be cut, the company said in a press release.

The stations concerned will be closed on August 31, 2020. The background is that demand has collapsed due to the corona crisis and the associated travel restrictions. Just a few days ago, Easyjet announced that it had silvered 23 Airbus jets as part of sale-and-leaseback deals. The total proceeds from the transactions were put at around 650 million euros.
