The low-cost airline Easyjet and its subsidiaries in Switzerland and Austria have announced that flight operations will restart gradually from June 15, 2020. Initially, the plan is to take off from a total of 21 European airports. However, mouth and nose protection will be compulsory on board. The low-cost group also emphasizes that additional measures will be taken in the area of disinfection.

In addition to some domestic flights in Great Britain, flight operations in France will be resumed from Nice, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Nantes and Lille as well as from Geneva in Switzerland, Lisbon and Porto in Portugal and Barcelona in Spain. The first flights will be operated primarily on domestic routes in the UK and France, as well as on a small number of international routes. Easyjet will continue to expand flight operations as customer demand continues to rise and travel restrictions are relaxed. During the fleet shutdown in recent weeks, the aircraft were kept in a ready-to-fly condition.

First flights will resume in the UK from London Gatwick, Bristol, Birmingham, Liverpool, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Belfast and the Isle of Man. In addition, from June 15, flight operations will start again in France from Nice, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Nantes, Lyon and Lille as well as from Geneva in Switzerland, Lisbon and Porto in Portugal and Barcelona in Spain.

“I am very happy that we can operate our first flights again on June 15th. These are the first and well-planned steps to resume flight operations. We will continue to monitor developments across Europe and with further relaxation of travel restrictions, we will continue to expand the flight schedule in order to meet customer demand and at the same time ensure that we operate efficiently and on the routes our customers want, ”said CEO Johan Lundgren in one Broadcast. “The safety and well-being of our passengers and employees remains a top priority, which is why we are introducing a number of measures to improve safety on every part of the journey. This ranges from disinfecting the aircraft to requiring customers and crew to wear a mask. These measures will remain in place for as long as necessary to ensure our customers and crew can fly safely as the world continues to recover from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. "

The carrier provided a promotional video in which the new security measures are explained in more detail:
